A charming summer wedding at one a gorgeous countryside venue, The Tipis at Riley Green in Lancashire. Photographed by candid wedding photographer, Paul Waring.

"Paul was exactly what we wanted (plus more) and exactly what he said he was going to be. Limited "proper" photos, but got the important formal ones you would have above the fireplace, which didn't take time away from us enjoying our day with family and friends. Paul was everywhere but nowhere at the same time, being able to get the great candid shots whilst not hassling anyone.

We had endless comments about how great Paul was. He's efficient and knows exactly when/where to get the best shot of any moment. Whether that's from the ceremony or just as the party is about to begin.

I can't recommend Paul enough - he is simply flawless."

Why the tipis at Riley Green work so well for relaxed weddings

The tipis at Riley Green are built around atmosphere. Everything about the space encourages a wedding to feel social, open, and unforced. It’s not a venue that pushes couples toward formality. It supports celebrations that feel grounded and welcoming instead.

What makes Riley Green stand out is how intentionally simple the environment is. There’s no excess architecture competing for attention. The focus stays on people, light, and shared space, which is exactly what relaxed weddings thrive on.

What this venue does exceptionally well

Tipis at Riley Green creates a sense of togetherness. Guests naturally gather in one shared environment rather than separating into different rooms. That single collective space changes how a wedding feels. Conversations overlap. Energy builds gradually. Nobody disappears into corners of a large building.

The layout also removes friction from the day. Couples don’t need complicated logistics to move guests from ceremony to reception to evening celebration. The venue flows in one direction, which keeps the rhythm of the day smooth.

Where it shines in photographs

Tipi venues are at their best when they’re alive with movement, and the Tipis at Riley Green delivers that beautifully. Open sides, layered textures, and visible sky keep the photographs feeling breathable rather than enclosed.

The surrounding fields provide clean horizons and natural framing. Nothing distracts from the couple. The environment supports the story instead of overpowering it. Evening photographs inside the tipis carry warmth and depth because of the wood, canvas, and lighting interacting together.

Best season for the venue

Spring through early autumn is where Riley Green fully opens up. Warmer months allow guests to drift in and out of the structure, expanding the celebration beyond the canvas walls. That freedom becomes part of the atmosphere.

Best light at The Tipis

Late afternoon light is the venue’s quiet superpower. The open landscape allows soft, low sunlight to travel uninterrupted across the fields. It wraps the tipis rather than striking them harshly, which keeps skin tones natural and the environment balanced.

Golden hour here feels wide and calm rather than dramatic. Couples don’t need to disappear for long portrait sessions. A short walk is enough to capture the scale of the landscape without losing connection to the party.

Best ceremony spots

Outdoor ceremonies take full advantage of the openness. The surrounding countryside becomes part of the frame without needing decoration to compete with it. Inside the tipis, ceremonies feel communal and grounded, with guests wrapped closely around the couple.

Both options work well, but the choice shapes the tone. Outdoor ceremonies emphasise air and landscape. Indoor ceremonies emphasise warmth and gathering.

Hidden strengths couples overlook

The biggest strength couples often underestimate is flexibility. Tipi venues adapt easily to different personalities. Riley Green can feel festival inspired, understated and elegant, or somewhere between the two depending on styling and pacing.

Another overlooked advantage is sound. Canvas structures absorb noise differently than hard walls. Music, laughter, and conversation feel immersive without becoming overwhelming. The energy builds without echo or harshness.

Couples drawn to Riley Green usually care about atmosphere more than spectacle. They want a day that feels shared rather than staged. The venue quietly supports that intention at every stage.

If you’re planning a wedding at the tipis at Riley Green and want a celebration that feels open, social, and full of life, it’s a space that naturally encourages exactly that.
