There’s something about a quiet weekday evening at the beach that just works. When I met up with Carl and Marie for their Lancashire engagement shoot, the tide was out, the light was soft, and the whole place felt calm. It was the perfect setting for a relaxed wander with the two of them.
We didn’t go in with a plan—just walked, talked about their wedding, and stopped now and again for a few portraits when the moment felt right. No awkward posing, no pressure. Just the three of us on the sand with the sound of the sea in the background and that golden light doing its thing.
They were completely at ease with each other, and I loved photographing those in-between moments—glances, laughter, quiet pauses. These are the bits I always look for. That’s what a pre wedding shoot in Lancashire can be: simple, natural, and a nice excuse to take some time out before the wedding arrives.
If you’re thinking about a beach engagement photoshoot or just want to spend a bit of time getting comfortable in front of the camera, this is a brilliant way to do it.
Evening light like this is kind to everyone, and there’s a real sense of space and calm you don’t always get at busier times of day.
